CHARLES E. "CHARLIE" LEVICK SR. SWANTONóCharles E. "Charlie" Levick, Sr. age 64, a longtime resident of the Highgate Road died early Sunday morning, August 13, 2006, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born at home in Swanton on, June 29, 1942, he was the son of Melvin Charles and Lucille Frances (Root) Levick.
He graduated from Highgate High School in 1960 and on April 4, 1964 was married to the former Alice Magnant who survives him.
From 1963 until 1965 Charlie was associated with the former Fonda Group and for 15 years with the H.P. Hood Company. He later worked nine years for Ben and Jerry's Inc. and more recently retired in 2005 from Pizzagali Properties. Charlie faithfully served his country in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Samuel B. Roberts and received his Honorable Discharge on May 7, 1962. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778, Swanton and was instrumental in the renovation and building addition that was just recently completed. He also belonged to the American Legion, Post 42 in Enosburg Falls. He was an active member of several Masonic bodies and was the youngest individual to ever serve as Master of Seventy-Six Lodge, No. 14, F. &A.M. Swanton. He also participated in the Sword of Bunker Hill, Order 115 of Fairfax, The Cairo Shriners and The Cairo North Mini Racers. He will be remembered for his love of hunting and ice fishing as well as working in the Lodge kitchen preparing for Ladies of the Table yearly meal.
In addition to his wife of Alice of 42 years he leaves his mother, Mrs. Lucille Levick of Swanton; his son Charles Levick Jr. wife Melissa and their daughter, Marah all of Highgate Springs; two daughters, Candace Levick and her children Dillon and Ciarra all of Swanton and Pamela Jean Levick also of Swanton; one brother, Douglas Levick and two sisters, Charlotte Emch and husband Donald and Sheila King all of Windsor Locks, Connecticut; four brothers-in-law, Richard Magnant and his wife Annette of Randolph, Howard Magnant and wife Diane of New Hampshire, Raymond Magnant and wife Donna of Enosburg and Charles Magnant of Franklin as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Melvin Charles Levick; a brother Roger Levick; brotherin-law Paul King and his mother and father-inlaw, Ethel and Ralph Magnant. The Levick family wishes to give very special thanks to, Tracy Pilbin R.N., Nicki Ward, Karleen Magnant, Dick and Lorraine Rollo and Skip and Chris Goodman for all the love, care and support shown to Charlie and his family during these past difficult weeks.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 17, 2006, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Levick family lot in Riverside Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, August 16, 2006; from 6 to 9 p.m. Members of Seventy-Six Lodge, No. 14, F&A.M. will conduct their Masonic Ritualistic Service at 8 p.m.
