LYDIA MAY HARPER, 78, AREA PIONEER DIES;
Lydia May Letcher was born in Milton Township, Dodge County, Minnesota. She married Ezna Harper on June 27, 1905. Ezna was a farmer in Dodge County, he had a daughter, Gladys from a previous marriage. Lydia and Ezna had a son, Raymond Harper in 1906. The family lived near Pine Island on the Letcher farm and in 1943 moved to Pine Island village when they retired.
Lydia died October 28, 1961 at the Zumbrota Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her siblings. Left to mourn are her son Raymond and 5 grand children and 9 great grandchildren, and her step-daughter, Gladys of Rochester, Minnesota.
The funeral was held at the Pine Island Methodist Church with Rev. Jerome Schoeppler. Organist was Mrs. C. Mondale and Mrs. Karl Stussy and Mrs. Harold Klingsporn sang. Active pallbearers were Clifford Benson, John Zuercher, Myrl Weckerling, Robert Fox, George Hayward and Lawrence Thomforde. Burial was in the Pine Island Cemetery, Goodhue Co., MN.
