Lorene Violet Letcher known by a lot of people as Grandma Vi, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 in Jackson 4 days shy of her 98th birthday. Violet was born in Marshfield Oregon on April 15, 1915 to Frank and Ruby (Parker) Standridge. Violets father was a coal miner in Amador County; she was raised by her father and her stepmother Jennie who she always lovingly referred to as her little stepmother. She was a self-proclaimed "Tomboy", grew up in Amador County, and graduated from Sutter Creek Union High School 1935. Violet married Carl Littlefield and gave birth to their only son Albert Littlefield in 1940. In the late 40's early 50's Violet moved to San Jose and worked for many years as a book binder for Stanford University. She met Justin "Judd" Letcher through mutual friends and the couple was married in 1956. For over 50 years, Violet was a member of the CWBA, and 35 years the WIBC. She enjoyed bowling and traveled all throughout the US doing it. She is a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a big fan of the San Francisco Giants and was a member of their booster club, also travelling the US rooting for them. Vi and Judd returned to Amador County in the 80's, rebuilt their Plymouth home, and enjoyed life in the county for many years. She had a life well lived and will be missed by many. Gma Vi is survived by her grandchildren, Dwayne Littlefield and Darcy Littlefield both of Plymouth; great grandchildren, MaryAnna Littlefield, Danae Littlefield, Dustin Littlefield, Dylan Littlefield, Carson Littlefield-Dalton; nephews Frank and Al Standridge and a huge extended family. She was welcomed into heaven by many open arms including, parents, Frank and Jennie; brothers Elmer and Red; husband, Judd Letcher; son, Albert Littlefield; grandson, Darin Littlefield; great grandson, Carl Littlefield and great granddaughter, Dalina Littlefield. At her request there will be no services. Inurnment will be private. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
