Birth: Jan. 17, 1889
Clarion County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Sep. 10, 1937

Daughter of Henry Addison & Minerva Jane (Buzard) Lerch. Wife of Grier Robert Downs (1885-1960).

Released from the tenement of life, the spirit of Mrs. Cyvilla Lerch Downs took its flight Friday morning, September 10, 1937, to its Heavenly home.

Her life was one of complete trust and obedience and so was always a life of service and usefulness.

From early childhood she had known, loved and trusted her Saviour. She always kept her light shining and was ever ready to lend a helping hand to others over the rough places in life's road. Her heart and home were places where God lived, and He dwelt and reveled in that sweet peace and composure of soul which He alone can give. Even sorrow, affliction, sickness and suffering did not shake her loyalty in Him, and with perfect assurance she went to dwell with her Lord. Leaves have their time to fall, flowers to wither at the north wind's breath and stars to set but thou, O Death, hast all seasons for thine own.
Cyvilla Downs was born in Clarion county January 17, 1889, a daughter of Henry and Minerva Lerch.

She was united in marriage September 15, 1909 to G. R. Downs who survives. To their union three children were born, namely: Mrs. Elverda Kindel and Mrs. Marie Myers, both of Curllsville, and Robert at home.

Besides her husband, children and five grandchildren, she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lerch of Curllsville, five brothers and one sister, namely: Frank of Brockway, John of Curllsville, Roy of Rimersburg, Grant and Floyd of Sligo, and Mrs. E. B. Chandler of New Bethlehem.

She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Curllsville for the past 23 years, and was a true and devoted Christian lady. While in the happiest, sunniest years of her life the same Spirit that whispered peace to the troubled waters of Galilee we believe, whispered to this gentle soul: "Let not your heart be troubled. In my Father's house are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you that you may abide with Me forever."

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Sept. 13, at 2:00 o'clock in the M. E. church, Curllsville, conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. J. Renwick, assisted by Rev. W. H. Harmon of Callensburg, a former pastor. Interment was made in the Clarion cemetery.
