Mrs. Maggie Holmes, 73, widow of Herbert W. Holmes, died Friday at her home, 12 St. Mary's pl. She was born at Holmdel, daughter of the late Yeff and Susie Leonard, and was a resident here more than 50 years. A member of the Shrewsbury Avenue AME Zion church, she also was a member of Martha chapter, order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Christian Richardson and Mrs. Marion Ross of Red Bank, and Mrs. Florence Malone of Newark, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday at the AME Zion church, with Rev. Richard A. Councill, pastor, officiating. Burial, under the direction of the Harris funeral home, was in White Ridge cemetery.
