"ADELE F. TIMM", "Connell, Wash." "Adele Florence Timm passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, at her home in Connell. A short memorial will also take place 2:30 p.m. in the Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport where she will be interred next to her husband.
Adele was born near Walnut Grove Minnesota on November 5, 1912 to Miltilda (Tillie) and John J. Leonard. Until she was 11, she lived on a farm her parents were homesteading about five miles south of Lomond Alberta. After four years of drought, the family came to Spokane in 1923. Her sister Drucilla was born there. Adele graduated from John R. Rogers High School.
She worked as a domestic and for J.J. Newberry mending nylon stockings.
In 1942, she married John A. Timm, and inherited his three children Patricia, John W., and Janet. In 1944, she bore a son, James. The family moved to a farm about 13 miles north of Almira, Washington in 1945, and farmed successfully for 20 years. During that time, Adele and John were very active in the Washington State Grange, and many community activities-schools, fairs, and bringing electricity and a new hospital to the region.
In 1967, John and Adele moved to Connell, Washington, where John ran the Grange Supply. John died in 1984.
Adele won numerous awards for baking, canning and sewing at the statewide level. She enjoyed reading and traveling abroad. She also created cards for family and notices for the activities of the Connell Community Center.
She was survived by her sons, John W, and Jim, daughters Patricia Pyle and Janet Polignoni, and her sister Drucilla Bendix.
She has 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren".
