Daughter of Charles Augustus Neal and Hannah Knights Graves. Her father had fifteen children, Anna was the eighth and one of the few to survive.
Hannah K Graves Neal, Anna's mother died when she was only seven. Anna was sent to live with Wales A Rogers and his wife Sarah Tilden Rogers.
For a short time, Anna held a job as a "gold beater" pressing gold leaf and gold plating. Her best talent was cooking, for which she was fondly remembered.
Anna married Clarence Howard Leonard on July 11th, 1895 in Marshfield, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. The two had five children.
