Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. for Flaven Leon Burke, 84, who died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in Trinity, TX.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Rayne.
Surviving are her husband, Paul H. Burke; one daughter, Bonnie Spratley and husband, Glyn; two sons, Guy Burke and wife, Sherry, andRichard Burke; seven grandchildren, Derek Comer, Kristin Roach and husband, Brad, Ryan Burke, Amanda Faveau and husband, Bryan, Brandon Burke and wife, Angela, Rochell Burke, Marilyn Burke Zelaya and husband, Rodney; twelve great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley, Brittany, Sarah, Emily, Luke, Justin, Matthew, Lilliana, Aliya, Mya and Delesk; two sisters, Ethel Leger and Lurnice Meche and husband, Leo Val; two brothers, Laurie Leon and wife, Cheryl, and Gillford Leon and wife, Annabell.
She was preceded in death by parents, Laurence and Lula Guidry Leon.
She was born Saturday, October 30, 1926, in Duson, daughter of the late Laurence Leon and the late Lula Guidry Leon.
Mrs. Burke retired from Aldine ISD of Houston, TX with 25 years of service in 1988.
She loved to travel with family and friends, and was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking for her husband and family. She will be lovingly missed by all.
A rosary will be recited Friday, March 25, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at Gossen Funeral Home.
