SUSAN KAY CAMPBELL-LENSEIGNE
It’s been rumored that Susie lost a courageous battle with cancer on Jan 6, 2015. Susie’s admonishment would be; this death has no sting and cancer’s cruelty is defeated.

There is a wisdom that we are all created with a God sized longing in our soul. In reality, it’s usually a black hole into which is thrown all manner of counterfeit debris…in hopes the void will heal with joy and peace. Married with children, caring for the broken, yet still striving to compensate for life’s mistakes, Susie struggled with the vastness of ‘not being good enough’. Unable to find worth in the hollow of herself, she couldn’t imagine being of value to anyone else. Much to her dismay and eternal delight…she discovered a forgiving Jesus anxious to hold her in His arms of grace. Susie would never be the same; and gratefully, neither would anyone she touched.

Born and raised in Yakima, Susie was the delayed twin, surprising parents Leslie and Madelyn Campbell on January 22, 1947. The Monterey Apts. and the mountains were her early playgrounds. She graduated from Eisenhower High School 1965, then Yakima Valley College, Central Washington University and Tacoma School of Nursing. After completing her degree, Susie launched into over thirty years of care giving.

Susie delighted in: worshiping, laughing, fishing, hunting, jeeping, boating, camping, decorating family memorials, taking road trips, dancing, playing at Point No Point, hugging, splashing walls and wardrobes with a colorful palette, praying, collecting things to hang on walls and line up on shelves, pouring extravagantly into her family, being generous beyond her means, caring for the ‘least of these’, fleshing out Jesus.

Susie’s light penetrated into so many nooks and crannies; no one really has a clear picture of how many organizations and lives benefited from her illumination. Enjoying her precious family; ministering in Young Life, Young Lives, Life Choices; advocating for the unborn, Memorial Home Care, First Pres, Vineyard, home groups, Memorial Bible Church, and AWANA; providing a perpetual open house/ soup kitchen welcoming pilgrims of any age and any condition; operating her own wheeling meals for shut-ins. From the flare of pink tutus, an infectious laugh, unflinching boldness, powerfully transparent testimony and super-sized Matronly love, Susie’s large personality filtered deep into His earthly kingdom.

Susie was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad and her younger brother, Greg. Trailing triumphantly are: her son, Michael (Tasha) Lenseigne; grandkids: Trinity, Lucas, Morgan; daughter, Leslie Lenseigne (Dave); adopted daughter Kristina (Chevy)Cortez, grandkids Seferino, Sorayah, Reynaldo; twin, Sandra (Ed) MacKenzie; brother, Lloyd (Cathy) Campbell and a quiver full of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.

Susie and family extend special thanks to those tender hands who unselfishly carried her through the challenges of these past few months.

Susie leaves a huge void. So, what do we do in the midst of the inevitable emptiness? Consider being still; in the quiet of our sorrow we will hear her whisper, “Don’t try to fill it with anything but Jesus, first.”

Susie’s legacy party rolls was held at Grace Of Christ Presbyterian Church. IMPORTANT NOTE; Susie has requested that we dress ‘colorfully’ and any free spirits are encouraged to wear tutus.
