Dorothy LeMaster Carter, died Tuesday, February 15. She was 94. Dorothy was born September 5, 1905 in Bushnell, IL. She received her early education there and later graduated from the University of Illinois in 1927. She taught school before moving to Tulsa in 1931, when she married Dale Carter. Dorothy established and operated the 1800 Restaurant in Utica Square for 5 years. Her husband, Dale was co-developer of the shopping center. Dorothy served as Chairman of the Crippled Children's Home which is now Children's Medical Center, was on the Board of Trustees of Holland Hall School, was a Province Officer of Kappa Kappa Gamma and recently received her 75 year award from the Sorority. She also served as President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Tulsa Community Chest. She was an accomplished artist and was a member of the Tulsa Artists Guild. Her other memberships included the Junior League of Tulsa, The Ruskin Art Club, P.E.O., John Robinson Chapter of D.A.R., Southern Hills Country Club and St. John's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Carter is survived by: 2 daughters, Ann Carter Barrett and Priscilla Carter Tate and 1 son, Dale LeMaster Carter, all of Tulsa; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church on Thursday, February 17 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the Church. Friends are contributing to St. Simeon's Episcopal Home, where she resided for the last years of her life or the Dorothy Carter Learning Center at Town and Country School.
