Mary Ann was born the daughter of John and Pauline (Cook) Leinweber. She spent her younger years growing up in LaCrosse and her teen years were spent in Colfax where she graduated from high school. She attended nurses training in Spokane and was an RN during the time World War II was ending. She returned to Colfax and worked in the First National Bank where she met Robert LeRoy Franz who also worked there. They married November 22, 1949 in Colfax. A few years later, Robert left the bank and started his own insurance business, Franz Insurance. Mary Ann kept busy as a homemaker and mother. She was active in her children's school activities and was a long time member of many social organizations including the Eagles, VFW, American Legion, the Elks and Plymouth Congregational Church. She also belonged to ladies golf leagues and women's bowling leagues often traveling to events all over the Northwest. She was the long time owner/manager of the Marcus Place Apartments in Colfax. Her husband passed away in 1980. Mary Ann is survived by three children; Lee Roy Franz of Colfax, Randy and his wife Susan Franz of Heron, MT., and Brian Franz of Wasilla, AK; three grandchildren, Lindsey, Landon and Robert Franz all of Heron, MT.; 2 sisters, Millie Hickman of Walla Walla, WA. and Esther Johnson of Kingman, AZ. and a brother, Wilbert Leinweber of Colville, WA. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Selma and Amelia and a brother, Alfred.
