Bobby E. Leigh, Sr. -MACON - Bobby E. Leigh, Sr., 74, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010 in a local hospital. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held Wednesday at 2P.M., in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with entombment in Macon Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Rev. Eddie Webb will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6:00 until P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home and while flowers are accepted, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 804 Cherry Street, Macon 31201. -Mr. Leigh, son of the late Johnson Blevins Leigh and Maggie Kent Leigh, was born in Thomaston and was a graduate of R. E. Lee High School. Living in Macon most of his life, he was in Logistics Airborne Weapons at Robins Air Force Base retiring after more than seventeen years. He had also worked at J. C. Penney for twenty-seven years in shipping and receiving. -Mr. Leigh was devoted to his family and was most happy while fishing and attending sporting events with his grandsons. He was an avid Georgia Tech fan and was of the Baptist Faith. -Those he loved most survive him, his wife of fifty-two years, Wynette Leigh of Macon; his daughter, Karen Newberry of Macon; his son, Bobby (Donna) Leigh, Jr. of Macon; three beloved grandchildren, Daniel (Nichole) Newberry, Tyler Newberry and Brandon Leigh, all of Macon; his great grandson, Nikolas Newberry of Macon; three brothers, Alfred Leigh of Huntsville, AL, Larry (Becky) Leigh of Helen and Bruce (Connie) Leigh of Moultrie; two sisters, Faye (Guy) Rainwater of Jonesboro and Shirley (David) Owsley of Thomaston and numerous nieces and nephews, and preceded in death by his sister, Betty Myrick. -Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of arrangements.
