Dorothy LeGere Craig went to be with the Lord Monday, February 4, 2008.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. EST Saturday, February 9, at St. John's Episcopal Church. Family will receive friends one hour prior. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. EST Friday, February 8, at Abbey-Riposta Funeral Home (850-562-1518).
Dottie was born April 10, 1916, in The Bronx, New York. Her parents were John Joseph LeGere and Johanna Konvalinka LeGere.
As a teenager, Dottie and her beloved sister, Florence, enjoyed dancing at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City.
Dottie worked as a waitress at Child's Restaurant on Broadway in 1930s New York City, once serving the movie star, Jimmy Stewart, who gave her an enormous tip.
Her husband of 29 years, Victor, died in 1965. He was the culinary supervisor with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Tallahassee and Alcatraz, San Francisco.
Dottie had lived in Tallahassee since 1956. She retired from Heidi's Bakery and was a volunteer at the Tallahassee Senior Citizen's Center for many years.
Dottie was a devoted member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Family and friends knew her as a fun-loving woman who enjoyed playing Bingo and entertaining.
