JENNINGS – Services for Belinda Marie Leger Guinn, 57, will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings with Father David Broussard officiating. She died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at her Jennings residence after a long fight with cancer. She was born in Jennings to Clyde Joseph and Edna Mae Lopez Leger.
A rosary was recited on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. by Anna Ray Denise.
The interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Guinn was a life long resident of Jennings and a graduate of Jennings High School. She was a life long member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. She taught catechism to high school students for 12 years. She was a member of the Ladies Alter Society and the Catholic Daughters. Belinda was a life time member of the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was a sponsor of the Andrew and Belinda Guinn Scholarship Fund at St. Francis University in Steubenville, Ohio for priests. She was an honorary member of the Carmellite Monastery in Lafayette. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society of Jennings.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Mae Leger; and two sisters, Phyllis Leger and Linda Leger LaBauve.
Survivors include Andrew Lee Guinn, Sr. of Douglasville, Texas; two sons, Andrew Lee "Drew" Guinn, Jr. (Hannah) of Hathaway and Adam Gerard Guinn (June) of Jennings; two daughters, Dawn Anne Trahan (Kirk) of Jennings and Holly Christine Guinn (Brad Durkes) of Hathaway; her father and stepmother, Clyde and Dorothy Leger of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Cleaton Leger (Corda) of Welsh and Charles Leger (Alice) of Lake Charles; two sisters, Jackie Haucke (Bill) of Plano, Texas and Carla Alcock (Dwayne) of Jennings; and 13 grandchildren, Erik, Hayley, Emma, Kate, Alexis, Gabrielle, Keagan, and Ethan Guinn, Nicholas, Peyton, Logan, and Luke Trahan, and Sydney Guinn.
Pallbearers include Noah LaBauve, Christian Haucke, Christopher Guinn, Stuart Guinn, Thomas Peter Guinn, Jr. "Teep", and Mark Guinn. Honorary pallbearer will be Brock Leger.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews & Son Funeral Home of Jennings.
