Carolyn was a determined and inspirational cancer survivor for more than 21 years. She died of this disease on Sunday, January 26, 2014. She was 68 years of age. Born on October 24, 1945, in Cowans Branch VA, and grew up in Kingsport, TN. She was the second youngest of 10 children. She graduated from Lynn View High School and Carson Newman College. Carolyn was a respected litigation paralegal at several Nashville, Tn. law firms spending almost 25 years with attorney Randy Bibb. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, renewing old friendships, and being “Grandma Carolyn”/”Mumsey” to her 5 grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by daughter Kristina Layne, parents Horrie and Mary Belle, sisters Lorene Snapp, Freda Mullins, brothers Walter and Wayne. She is survived by son Michael (Janis), son-in-law J. P. sisters Cleo, Letha, June, brothers Emory, and Gene (Debra). Grandchildren Zoë, Olivia, Katelyn, Jonathan, and Christian, as well as, many other loving relatives and friends.
Services were held Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Bellevue Presbyterian Church with interment in The Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home in charge.
