Charles B. "Chuck" Leemon, 81, of Hoopeston, died at 5:08 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at his home.
He was born in Danville to Charles N. and Mabel Louise Burnham Leemon. He married Elaine Pearl Elliott Leemon on Aug. 19, 1948 in Hoopeston. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Louise Barten, Peggy (Gary) Winzenburger and Linda Payne; sons, Charles (Dixie) Leemon and Scott (Janet) Leemon; a sister, Barbara Sanders; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William T. Leemon.
Mr. Leemon was a farmer and shorthorn cattle breeder. He served in the United States Army. Chuck also served as the past president of the Hoopeston Lions Club, the Illinois Shorthorn Association and the East Central Illinois Shorthorn Association. He was the director of the American Shorthorn Association, served on the Vermilion County Fair Board, was a National Livestock judge, American Shorthorn Association Breeder of the Year and a Hoopeston Booster 4-H Club Leader. He was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church and the Hoopeston American Legion. Chuck loved his family, his many friends and his cattle.
