She was a native of Hoboken and at the time of her birth the area was Pierce County, now Brantley, where she had lived for most of her life. She had been a resident of Baptist Village for the past three years.
She was the widow of Elder Elton Romie Dowling and was a daughter of the late Raymond William "Willie" Lee and Mary Emma Hickox Lee. She was a member of Little Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lee Wiley of Hoboken; five sons, Ray Dowling and Russell Dowling of Waycross, Michael, Stanley, and Phillip Dowling of Hoboken; eight sisters, Mattie Shuman and Zoie Meadows of Hoboken, Lottie Carter and Hazel Justice of Waycross, Lucy McIntosh of Hilliard, FL, Vannie Crews of Jacksonville FL, Mary Wainright of Nahunta, and Susie Sims of Marietta; two brothers, Elder Frank Lee of Hoboken and Jerome Lee of Villa Rica; 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Nov. 29, from little Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church (Spring Hill) with Elder Reavis Hickox officiating.
Interment was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Randy Dowling, Nick Wiley, Romie Dowling, Blake Dowling, Kelly Dowling, Brent Dowling and Joseph Dixon.
