On August 15, 1854 Dan purchased an 80-acre tract in Section 12 of Arbela Township (township 10 north, range 7 east, Tuscola County, Michigan where he settled. He died on his farm on February 22, 1888.
Note: On many online sources, Dan Lee has been confused with Daniel Wilson Lee, born on July 22, 1798 in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut to Bliss Lee and Martha Barnes. Daniel Wilson Lee married Mary Johnson in Waterbury, New Haven, Connecticut on March 13, 1823, and they appear in the 1830 and 1840 Connecticut census records, both times in Plymouth, Litchfield County, Connecticut.
According to the Hale Collection of Cemetery Inscriptions, Daniel Wilson Lee died on November 4, 1842, and is buried at Hillside Cemetery, Thomaston, Litchfield County, Connecticut. His wife Mary (Johnson) Lee is enumerated in the 1850 census for Plymouth, Litchfield County, Connecticut. Her death on December 26, 1864 and her burial at Hillside Cemetery are recorded in the Hale Cemetery Inscriptions and Newspaper Notices, 1629-1934 at Ancestry.com.
