EASTON, MD. — Catherine Irma Lee Dodd of Easton died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at the Christiana Hospital at Newark, Del. She was 79. Born Dec. 8, 1925, at Wye Mills, she was the daughter of the late James Wright and Mary Catherine Cook Everngam. She attended public school in Wye Mills and Chester, Pa.
Devoted to her family and friends, she spent many peaceful years at her home, “The Rest,” on the Miles River where she enjoyed nature, flower gardening, crabbing and boating. She also enjoyed traveling, reading and music. She will be affectionately remembered and loved for her kindness and her ability to give so much joy through her sense of humor, wit, laughter and compassion. She will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren and all who cared for her in her years of need while at Heartfields in Easton and HCR Manor Care in Delaware.
Her husband, John C. “Jack” Dodd, whom she married Jan. 10, 1946, died Feb. 14, 2002.
Mrs. Dodd is survived by two daughters, Sandra L. Dodd of Easton and Jacqueline D. Payne and her husband, Prescott, of Rohnert Park, Calif.; three sons, John C. Dodd III, Rickey J. Dodd and his wife, Glenna, all of Easton, and Gary J. Dodd and his wife, Bonnie, of Hockessin, Del.; two sisters, Lois Farber and her husband, Lloyd, of Wye Mills and Barbara Schnaitman and her husband, Charles, of Wye Landing; five grandchildren, Heather and Jennifer Dodd, both of Easton, Erin L. Dodd of Hockessin, Del. and Elyse and Mason Payne of Rohnert Park, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph W. Evern-gam, and a sister, Mary Ruth Thomas.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 at the Wye Mills United Methodist Church, Wye Mills.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.
Friends called at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home in Easton from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005.
Memorial donations may be made to the Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula Disaster Relief Fund, P. O. Box 831, Wilmington, DE 19899.
