Union Civil War Brigadier General. Born at Fulton, New York, he was a justice on the Kansas Supreme Court when the Civil War began. Commissioned as a Major in the 7th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry in October 1861, he took part in the Battle of Corinth and was promoted Colonel. He resigned from the Army on May 4 1865. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
