Services for Charles "Chief" Reynold Lee, 83, Tyler, are scheduled for noon Saturday, March 5, 2011, at College Hill Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tyler, under direction of Brooks-Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors, Tyler.

Mr. Lee died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Texarkana, Texas. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Texarkana, Texas, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial arts from Kansas State Teachers College and a Master of Science degree from North Texas State University.

He served 36 years as an industrial arts teacher, including Emmett J. Scott High School, 1953 to 1970, and Robert E. Lee High School, 1970 to 1986.

He was a member of College Hill Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, financial secretary and member of the Male Chorus. He was also a member of the Smith County Appraisal Review Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. Lee Sr. and Rosa A. Walton-Lee, and brother, Walter A. Lee Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Brooks-Lee of Tyler, married 61 years; son, Charles R. Lee II (Mary Green-Lee); daughter, Regina Lee Newsome (James Newsome); grandson, Dr. Reginald Newsome; granddaughter, Jamina Newsome; niece, Betty Jo (John) Watkins; and nephew, Clarence Arthur Lee.

Pallbearers are Lonnie Beasley, Tim Jones, Benjamin Brooks, Dr. Henry R. Armstrong, Leandro DeLeon, Enois Starling, John Howard Echols and Vernon C. Smith.

A scholarship fund has been established in memory of Charles R. Lee. Please make checks payable to College Hill Baptist Church.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon to 8 p.m. Friday.
