Civil War Union Officer. Lee was commissioned into the Union Army September 6, 1861, as a Lieutenant Colonel, 4th California Infantry, serving until his resignation May 31, 1863. During 1865 he was elected to the California State Assembly serving until 1866. In 1866, he was appointed District Judge, a post he held until his death shortly afterwards in a buggy accident.
