Alice was the daughter of Samuel M. Learned of China, Kennebec County, Maine and Rhoda Anne Bodwell Learned of Byron, Oxford County, Maine. Rhoda and Samuel were married on 17 November 1843 in Andover, Oxford County, Maine. Rhoda and Samuel had seven children. They were: George Eben Learned was born on 18 January 1844; Samuel Henry Learned was born on 06 April 1846; Isabella Ann Learned was born on 10 September 1848; Alice Annette Learned was born on 07 March 1853; Hiram Henry Learned was born on 14 February 1858; William W. Learned was born on 10 July 1860; and Frank S. Learned was born on 07 September 1863. All the children were born in Andover, Oxford County, Maine. Samuel M. Learned's note reads: Samuel N. Learned, (2), son of Sylvanus (Silvanus), lived with his father in different places most of the time during his minority. He learned the trade of joiner from his father, and worked at it in different places for several years. He then bought the farm of H. T. Emery, Lot No. - , East side. He is not much of a farmer or mechanic, works away from home at his trade at times. He goes to the lakes as guide for sportsman, fishermen, etc. He is fond of strong drink, and is not a good financier for himself, and does not love hard work. Alice married William E. Crocker in Rumford, Oxford County, Maine on 29 March 1873. Alice and William had a daughter. Elizabeth Bella Crocker was born in 1878 in possibly Oxford County or Franklin County, Maine.
Note: Alice Crocker, 1853-1934 (Obituary from the Rumford Falls Times, April 26, 1934) Pneumonia caused the death of Alice Annette Crocker, the last Civil War pensioner in Andover, Oxford County, Maine, Thursday afternoon at her home on Newton Street in Andover, Oxford County, Maine. Mrs. Crocker was born and spent all of her life in Andover, Oxford County, Maine. She was the daughter of Samuel and Rhoda Bodwell Learned. She was a member of the Universalist Church and Lone Mountain Grange, Andover, Oxford, Maine. She married William E. Crocker in Rumford, Oxford County, Maine on 29 March 1873. They had a daughter, Elizabeth. Surviving are two granddaughters, Mrs. Herbert Small and Mrs. Charles Leadbetter of Livermore Falls, Androscoggin, Maine, two brothers, William and Frank Learned, of Andover, Oxford County, Maine. The funeral services were held at the Congregational Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. George W. M. Keyes officiating. Members of the Lone Mountain Grange attended in a body. The bearers were A. E. Lang, I. E. Mills, Merton Fox and Timothy Learned. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Andover, Oxford County, Maine.
