Carmel Lear Isley, 91, died at 12:09 PM Wednesday [Nov. 23, 1983] in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she had been a patient six days, following a year of ill-health. Born near Wolcott, she spent most of her life in Lafayette. In 1918, she was married, in Lafayette, to Earl Isley, who died in 1953.
Mrs. Isley had attended business college in Terre Haute and for ten years was a clerk at Kresge's Department Store, retiring in 1952. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Mrs. A.G.) VanGordon of Lafayette; one son, Richard Isley, at home; a sister, Mrs. Imogene Hoover of Homestead, TN; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
