Carl Wayne Leake, 58, of 831 Dry Run Road, Luray, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester.
Mr. Leake was born July 23, 1948, in Luray and was the son of the late Earl Ennis and Sudie Rebecca Jane Gray Leake.
He worked for FMC and Avtex Fibers for 20 years as a textile worker. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from August 1966 to October 1970, serving in Vietnam and in the President's Helicopter Squadron until his discharge from Quantico Marine Base.
The last 16 years, he was a waste water treatment operator at Upper Occoquan Sewage Authority in Centreville. He also was a cattle farmer. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of St. George Episcopal Church in Pine Grove and a life member of VFW Comer Jones Post No. 621.
On June 10, 1967, he married the former Kaye Frances Rowe; she survives in Luray.
Also surviving are a daughter, Carla Kaye Leake of Luray; a son, Carl Travis Leake of Luray; a granddaughter, Kayla Marie Cook of Luray; mother-in-law, Iva Mae Rowe of Luray; brother- and sister-in-law, Michael C. and Cathy Rowe of Luray; a special aunt, Martha Pettit of Luray; special cousins, Connie Strickler, Alice Smith and Leroy Pettit, all of Luray, and a special uncle, Everette Leake of Woodstock.
The Rev. Anne Scupholme will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
Burial with graveside military honors by the VFW Comer Jones Post No. 621 will be in Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
