OBITUARY:
Mrs. Alice Kirkpatrick - Alice M. Leach, daughter of Ellen and Lyman Leach, was born in Allegan, Mich., Jan. 5, 1868, and died Feb. 24, 1921, at the Hospital in Tacoma, Wash., after a serious operation. She came with her parents to Clare county in the year 1851 when 13 years of age, part of her girlhood days being spent here. In 1886 she was married to Dave Kirkpatrick. To this union was born their only daughter, Hazel. They lived in Clare a number of years, she being very active in Lodge work while here, then later going west locating at Tacoma. The funeral was held at the home of her daughter on Feb. 26 with burial in Mountain View Cemetery at Tacoma. She was a kind and affectionate mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Beside her husband she leaves to mourn, her daughter, Mrs. Geo. F. Brown, and grandson Donald, of Tacoma; two brothers, Geo. Leach of Millersburg, Mich., and Howard Leach of Saginaw, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Carrie E. VanConant of Mt. Pleasant, Mich; beside other relatives. (The Clare Sentinel, March 10, 1921)
