Jeffrey Charles LeMasters, 51, of Kansas City, MO, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Jeffrey was born September 12, 1961, in Middletown, MO, and graduated Wellsville-Middletown R-1 in 1979.
Jeffrey became interested in music at an early age, starting piano lessons at age 7. He went on to study with several different professors at the University of Missouri-Columbia, giving recitals every year and placing with top honors in many competitions. In 1979, Jeffrey attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, studying Piano Performance with a music scholarship.
In 1990, Jeffrey moved to Kansas City, where he started his career with Sprint. There, Jeffrey became involved with several not-for-profit organizations: Kansas City Free Health Clinic, AIDS Walk Kansas City, and Good Samaritan Project, as well as having served on numerous fund-raising committees. He was an active board member for Good Samaritan Project, resulting in being awarded the 2002 Marion Kreamer Ribbon of Hope Award for volunteer efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Jeffrey also provided piano music for many private and corporate events throughout the Kansas City area.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 24 from 12:00-3:00 pm at Middletown Christian Church, Middletown, MO, followed by a 3:00 pm memorial service at the church. A Celebration of Life service is planned for a later date in the Kansas City area. Services are under the direction of Myers Funeral Home in Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Kaufmann Center for the Performing Arts, 1601 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64108, or Good Samaritan Project, 3030 Walnut, Kansas City, MO 64108.
