Charles L. Layher was born July 4, 1883 at Marysville, Kansas, the son of Chris and Wilhelmina Layher. He departed this life on February 5, 1963, at the hospital in St. Paul, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, seven months and one day. The family moved to Hamilton County, Nebraska when he was small and later to the Wolbach area. He and Grace McMilan were married October 31, 1906 at Grand Island.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ray Ooley of Wood River and Mrs. Carl Anderson of Boise, Idaho; one son, Woodrow of Millbank, California; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Henke of Cozad; three brothers, Frank of Grand Island, Ed of Haddam, Kansas, and John of North Platte; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, three sisters and seven brothers.
