Henry Anthony Lawton III, 80, died at his home.
He was the son of Gertrude (Harrington) and Henry Lawton II.
He was a lifelong farmer in Rhode Island, taking over the family farm after the death of his father while still a teenager. He moved to Vermont in 1973 and farmed with his son Henry in Bridport until his death. In 1991, he and his family donated to the town of Scituate land from one of his farms to preserve open space.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Virginia; two daughters, Lynda Hamilton of Kathleen, Fla., and Lauren Mountford of Foster, R.I.; a son, Henry Lawton IV of Bridport; two brothers, Fred Lawton of Rhode Island and John Amell of Florida; a sister, Margaret Markunas of New Jersey, eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Cerchio; and a brother, James Amell.
Specifically: He is buried in Rhode Island, cemetery unknown at this time.
