EDWARD CHARLES LAWTON September 19, 1918 - August 18, 2006 Surrounded by family and friends passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Edward was born in San Francisco, CA. In 1964 he married Carmen Yslas from Sonora, Mexico. She was his devoted wife for 42 years, always by his side to comfort and care for him. Especially through his long battle with Parkinson's disease. Ed is also survived by his daughters Jackie Mickaels and her husband Darren of San Leandro and Leslie Lawton of Hayward. His brother Marion Lawton of Fresno and Sister Mary Van Muckey of Novato. He was preceded in death by his brother John Lawton of Pleasant Hill. Ed was an accomplished football and track and field athlete at Fresno State and USF. He went to USF on a football scholarship along with his brother John. He enlisted in the military during WWII and was an integral part of the physical training program for troops in North Carolina. After WWII Ed owned a cobbler shop in the Bay Area and also sold real estate. Ed was an award winning salesman at Stuart McGuire and Hanover Shoe Company. He loved the art of salesmanship and talking with people. Ed had great communication skills and always enjoyed a good conversation on the current events as well as reminiscing about his numerous endeavors with the Fresno State Bulldogs and his experiences during the war. He was a great dancer, loved his wife's Mexican cooking, and always enjoyed a good family get together. Daddy, we love you. Keep on singing "Guadalajara" with all the angels at your side. Here's a kiss "with sound". Friends are respectfully invited to attend the Vigil Service Wednesday August 23rd at the Santos-Robinson Mortuary 160 Estudillo Ave. San Leandro beginning at 7:00 PM.
