Charles R. "Chuck" Lawson, 82, of 1212 Grant St., died at 5 pm August 23, 2013, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

He was born September 5, 1930, in Ottumwa to Harry and Callie Palmer Lawson. He married Teresa M. Parks on July 20, 1956. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2013.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School, he earned a B.S. degree from Parsons College and his M.A. degree from Northeast Missouri State University.

He worked for John Morrell & Co. for 17 years. He was a math instructor and taught computer programming at Indian Hills Community College retiring as Chief Academic Officer and ass Dean Emeritus after 29 years. He was an avid golfer, having been a member of the Senior Golf League for 19 years.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda Lawson and Laura(Randy)Owens both of Ankeny, Lisa(Wade)Bassett of Albia; a son, Mick(Joni)Lawson of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren, Maria, Joseph, Anthony, Alicia, Brice, Miranda, Brenden, Hayley, Danae, Callie and Morgan; seven great-grandchildren, Breanna, Quentin, Natalie, Elija, Bailey, Jack and Gracei.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth Clawson; and a brother, Max Lawson.

Funeral services will be 1 pm Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Father Bernie Weir presiding. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will begin 10 am Thursday At Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Indian Hills Community College Foundation.
