Norma Jean Lawrence Anderson, 82, passed away in her home with her children and sister at her side.
She was born in Houston on February 17, 1921 to Rolland J. and Sarah Veigh (Sadie) Lawrence.
The family moved to Chicago and later to Nederland where she grew up and graduated from Nederland High School in 1938.
Norman Jean and her husband Morris were founding members of Calder Baptist Church, where Norma Jean taught the pre-school Sunday school class for many years. She was an active member of the Beaumont Junior League where she created and worked many puppets for their fund raising shows. She was a leader in the Bluebirds, Campfire Girls and Cub Scouts. She also volunteered at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas. Norma Jean and Morris were members of a supper club with three other couples from Calder Baptist Church, which met once a month for fifty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost sixty years, Morris Bryan Anderson who co-founded Anderson Construction Company along with his father Jimmy Anderson; her sister, Mary Lou Roberts and her nephew, Larry Fortenberry.
She was survived by her children, Andrea, Rolland J. (Ronnie)and wife Linda, Cindi and husband Phillip; and her sister, Nancy Lawrence. She had four grandchildren and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 North 11th Street, Beaumont with Reverend Jim Fuller presiding. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
