"Elila B. (Zilla) Baker, age 91, of Morgan City, Louisiana and formerly of Coleman, Texas, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, in Louisiana. Funeral services were held at 11 am. Monday at Coleman Cemetery Pavilion with Jack Cosby officiating. Services were under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
"Mrs. Baker was born October 4, 1909 in Coleman, Texas and was a daughter of George Bernard Lawrence and Eliza Ellen Hudson Lawrence. She was married to Henry Edward Baker on October 14, 1933 in Brownwood, Texas and he preceded her in death in 1955. Mrs. Baker lived in Coleman until 1967 when she moved to Brownwood and then to Morgan City, Louisiana in 1976.
"She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Don (Dorothy Baker) Abney of Patterson, Louisiana; one granddaughter, Mrs. Augustine (Donna) Carmello of Patterson, Louisiana; one grandson, Michael Ray Abney of Morgan City, Louisiana; one great-grandson, Joshua Lee; three great-granddaughters, Rachel Marie, Cheyenne Nicole and Alexandra Rae; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Lawrence Bowers of Haskell, Texas; two brothers, O. M. Lawrence of Midland, Michigan and E. O. Lawrence of Little River, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
