Judy Carol Light, one of God's most gentle and precious creations passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 26, 2013 surrounded by family and friends and went to be with her Lord. She was 72. Judy was born in Rockdale, Texas to parents Rollie H. Lawrence and Dorothy D. McCoy Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James R. Lawrence.

Judy lived with her family in the Del Valle area for many years. She attended I.W. Popham Elementary and Intermediate Schools and graduated from Del Valle High School in 1959. She was an outstanding student, was on the staff of the school newspaper, the school yearbook and participated as a member and secretary of the Cardinal Pep Squad. She also enjoyed her membership in the Future Homemakers of America chapter.

Judy loved her family and friends and was most happy in their presence during birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays throughout the year. She was an outstanding cook and homemaker and enjoyed shopping throughout Central Texas. She loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting or just watching the wildlife on the family ranch in Mullin, Texas. She was an accomplished hunter and on many occasions brought home the biggest buck deer.

She was a selfless individual who volunteered her time and services throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the Henly Baptist Church and volunteered regularly in whatever capacity was needed. She was an original member of the Henly Volunteer Fire Department ladies auxiliary, and was secretary for the Henly Cemetery Association until her health prevented her participation. Judy was devoted to her great aunt Bonnie and spent many hours in attendance of her and her special needs.

Family visitation was held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Cook-Walden / Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Services celebrating Judy's life were conducted at that same location on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, the Reverend Don Forrester officiating with interment immediately following.
