Leora E. Bannon
FREDERICK, Md. - Leora Elizabeth Lawley Bannon, 80, of 8202 Pembrook Court, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born March 21, 1920, in Lykens, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Daniel C. and Helen R. Laudensleager Lawley.
She attended Hamberg High School and trained as a nurse at Homeopathic Hospital.
She was employed as a communications specialistfor the Department of Defense at the Pentagon, the East Coast Telecommunications Center, Frederick, and the Food and Drug Administration until her retirement in 1982.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Chester D. Bannon Sr.; two daughters, Pat Harris of Dover, Del., and Peggy Boyer of Jefferson, Md.; three sons, Butch Bannon of Frederick, Dale Bannon of Hagerstown, and Greg Bannon of Boonsboro; two sisters, Dot MacPherson of Troy, N.Y., and Betty Hummel of Dover; four brothers, Buddy Lawley and Rich Lawley, both of Reading, Pa., Kenny Lawley of Minot, N.D., and Donnie Lawley of Leesport, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Moyer.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Her grandson, Captain Dale D. Bannon Jr. of the Salvation Army, Dallas, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
