Frances was born in Corsicana, Texas on September 13, 1921, to Ruth Marie Kennemore and Charles Vance Laverty. She had many fond memories of her life in Corsicana where she lived with her Aunt Emma and her parents. In recent years, she spoke of the desire to return there to live.
On February 5, 1937, Frances married the love of her life Allen L. Carrigan in Malakoff, Texas.
They relocated to Odessa, TX in 1948 when Allen went to work for the Shell Oil Company. They made Odessa their second home while they raised their family which consisted of four children: Charles Allen, Stephen Mickel, Barbara Patrice and Billy DeWayne. In 1952, Frances opened and operated the Airport Grocery in North Odessa. She operated the store for the family for 20 plus years. She also worked for a time in the cafeterias of the Ector County School System. She and Allen were charter members of Northside Baptist Church in Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her infant son Allen; husband: Allen L. Carrigan; mother: Ruth Marie Williams; father: Charles Vance Laverty and step-mother: Audrey Littlejohn Laverty and her beloved Aunt Emma Vance.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Charles Allen and Loraine Carrigan of White Oak, TX, Stephen Mickel (Mike) and Sharyn Carrigan, Barbara Patrice Carrigan Alldredge, and Billy DeWayne and Evie Carrigan, all of Odessa.
She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Tina Carrigan Wilson and husband Barry of California; Randy and Maureen Carrigan and Tanya Carrigan Holman and husband Randall, all of White Oak; Shelli Carrigan Maines and husband Matt of Allen, TX; John Carrigan of Tomball, TX; Caleb and Karen Waldrep and Joshua Robert Alldredge, all of Odessa; Justin Allen Alldredge of Bee Cave, TX; and Erin Carrigan Brueckner and Jason and Kaitlin Rose Carrigan, all of Odessa.
She also leaves 13 great-grand children: Lori Wilson, Lisa Wilson, Wesley Wilson, Colton Holman, Miller Maines, Jevon Carrigan, Dalton Carrigan, Christian Pittman, Caleigh Waldrep, Caleb Paul Waldrep, Kodi Ann Waldrep, Mason Brueckner and Wyatt Brueckner and 6 great-great grandchildren. In all a total forty- four people who will dearly miss their "Paw Maw".
She is also survived by her sister: Mary Beth Williams of Kannapolis, NC, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and four aunts.
The family will receive friends at Acres West Funeral Chapel from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, May 30, 2010. Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 31, 2010 at Northside Baptist Church with Clydell Chapman officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 1, 2010 in Corsicana, TX at the Vance family plot in Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
