MRS. A.W. CLAY TAKEN BY DEATH
Local Woman Succumbs To Sudden Heart Attack At Home On Heber Street.

Funeral On Sunday

Stricken with a sudden heart attack at her home on Heber street, shortly before three o'clock yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Louesie Clay, 62 years old, wife of A.W. Clay, died before Dr. K.M. Jarrell, who was hastily summoned, could reach the house.

Mrs. Clay was apparently in her usual health during the day, and shortly before her sudden death she complained of being unwell. Dr. Jarrell was summoned, but on his arrival she was dead.

A native of Raleigh county, she was born at Rock Creek on April 12, 1872. She had been a member of the Methodist church for 45 years and during her entire life she was a devout Christian.

Funeral services will be held by Dr. J.E. Bird at the residence Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment in charge of Calfee Undertakers will be made in the family cemetery at Dameron. The family requests that a wish of the deceased be complied with - please omit flowers.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Clay is survived by a daughter, Mrs. F.E. Fitch, of Opelika, Alabama; and three sons, Radie Clay, John Clay, and Roy Clay, all of Beckley. One brother, Wilby Laverty, of Dameron; and five sisters, Mrs. Agnes Harper, of Maynor; Mrs. Louis Gates, Beckley; Mrs. A.L. Cook, Dameron; Mrs. A.L. Clay, Beckley; and Mrs. T.J. Honaker, of Charleston; are also living. She leaves ten grand children and three great grand children.
