BURNETT, Opal E. Our beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, age 85 of Roseburg, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 1998 in a local care center. She was born on September 30, 1912 at Roseburg, Oregon to George Baker and Ellen (Greer) Laurance. On July 24, 1931 in Roseburg, she married J. Gordon Burnett who preceded her in death on June 9, 1994. Opal was a lifetime member of the Dillard-Winston United Methodist Church. She and J. Gordon had spent many years living in the Round Prairie area. Survivors include one son, Gary G. Burnett and wife, Marilyn, of Troutdale, Oregon; one daughter, Gloria G. Burnett of Myrtle Creek; three grandchildren, Bruce Burnett, Brenda Delbert and James Burnett all of the Portland Vancouver area; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 1998 at 1 p.m., at the Myrtle Creek United Methodist Church. Pastor June Fothergill will officiate. Private inurnment will be in the Roseburg Memorial Gardens. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Burnett's memory to the Myrtle Creek United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice. LONG & SHUKLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
