GLAZE, MYRTLE MILES LAUNIUS Passed away on April 18, 2012 in Tampa, Florida. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Miles and Trixie Brake Launius. Myrtle was a longtime resident of Gardendale and Cullman. After receiving her B.A. and M.A. from Birmingham-Southern College, she taught for 32 years at several high schools in Jefferson County. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Gardendale. In retirement, she was a member of the Dripping Springs Daughters of the American Revolution, the Alabama Retired Teachers Union, and various garden clubs. She loved to travel, read and develop her artistic talents. Survivors include her husband, Bill, of 62 years; daughter Amanda Fountain (Michael) of Tampa; niece, Beatrice (Trixie) Hill of California whom she loved like a daughter; grandson, Miles Fountain (Katie) of Brevard, N.C.; granddaughter, Leigh Fountain of Tampa; great-grandchildren, Teddy and Hazel Fountain. A memorial service will be held on Sunday June 24, 2012 at 3PM at the Gardendale First Baptist Church South Campus at 940 Main St., Gardendale, AL. Memorials may be made to either the Humane Society or the ASPCA in her memory
