ORANGE- Susan L. (Laughton) Bugda, 84, formerly of Red Brook Village, died on Friday afternoon, May 4, 2007, at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, following an illness.
Born on February 13, 1923, she was a daughter of Alexander and Louise (Wilder) Laughton and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1940.
Susan received her training at the Institute of Living in Psychiatric care and worked at the Institute of Living in Hartford, Connecticut for 5 1/2 years, then at Hughes Convalescent Home in West Hartford, before going to work at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Bristol, Maine.
She returned to Athol in 1979 and did private nursing work as well as working in several area nursing homes before retiring in 1985.
She did post graduate work at Melrose High School as well as attending Fay Business School in Boston.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Bugda of Florida; a daughter, Roxanne Churchill of New Salem; three grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Bugda and her sisters, Ann O'Brien and Jean Schmidt.
Funeral services and interment in Lower Cemetery, Phillipston, will be private.
