The graveside service for Elmer Edwin "Sarge" Bartlett, 77, will be 2 p.m. today, Nov. 25, 2008, in Waynoka Municipal Cemetery. Dr. Greg Hook will officiate. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home, Waynoka, LLC.
He was born June 20, 1931, in Blackwell to Edwin Theodore and Mary Ann Bartlett and died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, in Wichita, Kansas.
Following graduation from Palestine, Texas, High School, he enlisted in the Air Force and later enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in Korea as a diesel mechanic and was later stationed at Camp Pendelton until his retirement. Following the service he moved to Hayesville, Kan. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church and the American Legion in Mulvane, Kan., the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Derby, Kan., and a life member of Disabled American Veterans in Wichita.
Surviving are one sister, Ethel McGolden of Hayesville, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by an infant son and four sisters.
