Alan Lasater died April 7, 2009 at his home in Denver. He had been in ill health following a decades-long struggle with alcoholism. Alan was born April 6, 1953 in Simla, CO, he attended school in Simla, at the Colorado Rocky Mountain School and at Pacific High School in California.
He was a retired dome builder and was a partner in the family ranching enterprise. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mary Casey Lasater.
He is survived by one sister, Sally W.; four brothers: Laurence (Annette), Dale (Janine), Lane (Nancy), Brian, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by long-time friends Lorna Huddleston, John Coker, and Stuart Leuthner. Uncle Al, or "El Comandante," as he was affectionately known, was a voracious reader of history and an untiring conversationalist.
He had a compassionate heart, and was quick to respond to many needy people. A memorial service was held in Denver. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice, or to the Lasater Scholarship Foundation, (a 501-C-3 corp), P.O. Box 88122, Colorado Springs, CO 80908.
