They had five children: Kenneth Leroy, Ronald Ellsworth, Dorothy Mae, Robert Mancer, and Geraldine Ellen Barnes. Her death was reported in the Oakland Tribune of Sept. 27, 1930: "The accident in which Mrs. Barnes was fatally injured occurred Wednesday night when the car she was driving went out of control and struck a telephone pole at Wyman Street and Wyman Place. She died at Highland Memorial hospital from a fractured skull and internal injuries last night."
