Larson Sr., age 94, U.S. Air Force (retired), passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013, in San Antonio. Visitation: The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 24, at the Porter Loring Mortuary. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday, February 25, in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial service: 2 p.m. at The Towers on Park Lane, 1 Towers Park Lane, San Antonio, Texas. Pastor Larry Davis will officiate. He was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Theodore and Sophie Larson. Richard moved to Harlingen as a child, where he grew up. He joined the Army at age 18, serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and then in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars, until his retirement in 1976. Richard was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving his country. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Larson, in 1995. Survivors: Richard is survived by his wife of 14 years, Jean Uerling Larson; five Larson children; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the Uerling family, six children, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
