Erma Arleen Coulter, of Eureka, died at Eureka Nursing Center on Monday, June 25, 2012, at the age of 92.
She was born in Sallyards, Kansas on September 29, 1919, the daughter of Elmer and Ethel (Andrew) Larcom. Erma was raised in the Reece area. She attended country school and graduated from Reece High School before taking Nurse's Training. After her schooling, she worked in the office of Triple A where she met her husband.
On March 29, 1942, Erma was united in marriage to Charles Edward Coulter in Severy, Kansas. After their marriage, she worked as a CNA at Greenwood County Hospital and part time as a bookkeeper in the Greenwood County Treasurer's office. Erma retired in the early 1980's. Ed preceded her in death on November 2, 1982.
She is survived by one son, Duke and wife, Bonnie Coulter of Eureka; one daughter, Nancy and husband, Lavern Crosson of Enid, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchild; and one sister, Virginia Connell of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, with Pastor Tim Carey of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hutchinson officiating. Interment will follow in Reece Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Coulter Family Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
