Rachel Elizabeth Love, daughter of John
and Elizabeth Love, was born at Summer-
ville, Pennsylvania, on December 8, 1844
and was the seventh child in a family of
ten, of whom only the youngest, Abbie
Cyrena, now Mrs. J.C. Gaston of Frank-
fort, Kansas, now survives.
Death came to her on Friday, April 24,
1931 at the age of 86 years, 4 months
and 16 days, at the home of her daughter
Mrs. S.W. Tilley, near Frankfort, Kansas.
Her first marriage, at the age of 24 years,
she was united with John Thomas Walmer.
to this union was born only one living
child, Mary Catherine, now Mrs. S.W.
Tilley, of Frankfort, Kansas, whom she has
made her home for the past twenty-eight
Mr. Walmer died of typhoid fever on May
1, 1873. In 1877, Mrs. Walmer became
the wife of Pearl Hutchins, and to this
union was born two sons, Edward Jerome
and Clinton, both deceased.
In 1887 she was again united in marriage
to Michael H. Lantz, who departed this
life at their home in Sabula, Pennsylvania
in June 1903. The following October, she
came to Kansas and has since resided here.
Hers was a life of service, her characteristic
has even been the desire to minister to the
comforts and pleasure of others.
At the age of fourteen, she became a
member of the Methodist Episcopal Church
in Summerville, Pennsylvania, later she
transferred her membership to the German
reformed Church at Sabula upon moving
When she came to Kansas she became a
member of the Methodist Episcopal church
in Frankfort and has been a member ever
Funeral services were held at the Methodist
Church in Frankfort with Reverend J.B.
Interment was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
