Joyce E. Lantagne, 78, of Newport passed away on Wednesday August 3, 2011 in Newport.
She was born on July 14, 1933 in Newport, a daughter of Oliver and Edna (Lamere) Blanchard.
On January 13, 1950, she married Oliver Lantagne who predeceased her in 1996.
Mrs. Lantagne was a receptionist for NECKA in Newport and retired in 2007. She also worked as a customer service representative at Sears and The Pick and Shovel.
She enjoyed many trips with the Community Circle, going to Maine with her family, going to camp in Wenlock with the late Mr. Lantagne, and enjoying the family. Mrs. Lantagne, in her last few months with us, always looked forward to starting her day with saying "Good morning" to Hannah, her great-granddaughter, and seeing her off to school.
Mrs. Lantagne was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #798 in Newport.
She is survived by her children: Wayne Lantagne and his wife, Joette, of Morgan and their children Shane and Stacie; Cheryl Kelley and her husband, Bob, and their son, Nathan, of Newport Center; David Lantagne and his wife, Robin, of Newport Center and their children Liberty, Daniel, Miranda, and Billy; Cathy Lantagne and her companion, Jerry Prue, of Newport, and her daughter, Trisha, of Newport; Kim Mathison and her husband, Randall, and their children, Nicole and Nicholas, of Newport Center; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on August 6 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport. Interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery.
