Services for Mrs. Oleta F. Franklin, age 77, of Winsboro, will be 3:00 PM Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Winnsboro with Dr. Harry Boyd and Dr. Bill Robertson, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral in Winnsboro, LA.
She was born to the union of Ingram and Mary Pittman Lamier on January 22, 1927 in Winnsboro and went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 11, 2004 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Franklin was a member of First Baptist Church in Winnsboro and was a member of the Eastern Star. In her early years, she spent many hours as a seamstress for her family and her friends. Her sewing was an act of kindness and enjoyment which later led to the art of quilting. She married her husband A.J. on January 26, 1946 in Crowville.
She was a loving and caring wife to her husband of 58 years, A.J. Franklin of Winnsboro. She was a devoted mother to her three children: Duane Franklin and wife Eddie of Killeen, TX, Ginger Graham and husband Don of Winnsboro, and Ronald Franklin and wife Dawn of Baton Rouge, LA.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, A. J. Franklin of Winnsboro; three children and their spouses: Duane and Eddie Franklin of Killeen, TX, Ginger and Don Graham of Winnsboro, Ronald and Dawn Franklin of Baton Rouge; one sister: Floy Chapman of Winnsboro; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Bruce, J.W. Dean, George Price, Jr., Pete Rawls, Jerry Thomas, Dr. Tommy Wooldridge.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or to a favority charity.
