Funeral services for Mrs. Imogene Barker, 88, Conway, Mo., will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008, in Happy Home Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Conway, with burial following in Happy Home Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 5 in Shadel's Colonial Chapel, Lebanon. Imogene is survived by son Kenny Barker and his wife, Darlene, of Conway; three daughters, Jan Harris of Sanford, Fla., Jackie Barker of Alameda, Calif., and Kay Timmerman and her husband, Gene, of Grass Valley, Calif.; son-in-law Elvin Bohannon of Conway, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. IMOGENE BARKER, daughter of Walter and and Myrtle Vestal Langdon, was born February 22, 1920, in Conway, Missouri, and departed this life April 2, 2008, at her home in Conway, Missouri.
On December 31, 1938, she was united in marriage with John Kenneth "Kurly" Barker, and to this union was born five children. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, and by one daughter, Joyce Bohannon, on October 17, 2006.
Imogene professed her faith in Christ, and was baptized, at the age of ten. At the time of her death she was an active and faithful member of Happy Home Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She treasured the fellowship with her church family, and ministered to the members with her gift of song through the piano. She was also part of Missionary Society, a Christian organization that helps to promote missionaries and mission trips.
In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and tending to her vegetable garden, although she enjoyed it, tending to her garden was also a necessity. However, she most treasured the precious moments spent with her wonderful family, especially her grandchildren.
Imogene is survived by her son, Kenny Barker and his wife Darlene of Conway; three daughters, Jan Harris of Sanford, FL, Jackie Barker of Alameda, CA, and Kay Timmerman and her husband Gene of Grass Valley, CA; a son-in-law, Elvin Bohannon of Conway; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; other relatives, church family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant granddaughter, Angel Barker, two brothers, Russell and Vestal Langdon, and a son-in-law, Jim Harris.
Imogene was a wonderful Christian and a great testimony to anyone she came in contact with. She had a kind spirit and a gentle heart always eager to help anyone in need. A loving mother, cherished grandmother, incredible sister and loyal friend she will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
