Marshall Joseph Langan Jr., who retired from Alabama Power Co. as Mobile District accounting manager after 32 years, died of Parkinson's disease Monday at his home. He was 82.
After retiring, Langan , a Mobile resident, worked as manager of Fort Whiting Armory. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
A 1944 graduate of McGill Institute, he received his degree in commerce from Spring Hill College in 1950.
During World War II, Langan served in the U.S. Army's tank division in Europe. He also served in the Alabama National Guard 161st Medical Battalion.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Schneider Langan of Mobile; nine children, Marshall J. Langan III of Luling, La., Leah Shawn Langan , Elizabeth L. Barnhill and Damien P. Langan , all of Mobile, Timothy Michael Langan of Jasper, Ala., Maria L. Riekhof of Gaithersburg, Md., Michael Sean Langan of Berkeley, Calif., Kristen L. Ihle of Russellville, Tenn., and Vincent M. Langan of Birmingham; one sister, Margaret L. Scott; and one brother, Patrick Langan , both of Pensacola; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to EWTN, Old Leeds Road, Irondale, Ala.; or the Carmelite Monastery in Mobile.
